Eventually, in 1986, hybridization by hand pollination of the natives led her to develop a line of stunningly beautiful hardy perennial plants that generally prefer sunny wet areas. Perfect for those low spots where not much would grow. The hybrids offered great variability in size and growth, differently sized flowers with new colors, and generally longer bloom periods. Some are huge, achieving twelve feet or greater height in one growing season, others diminutive; some have enormous 10 to 12-inch blossoms, other dainty, small flowers. The range of color and hues far exceeds the natives, from pure white to the deepest crimson, with roses, pinks, lavenders and raspberry-tints. Some have "eyes" in the center, some are funnelform, some open flat, others open to the point of curving back. Five of the hybrids, known as the Bostx® HHHybrids™, are patented.
